Chef Thomas Stacy Trades Tasting Menus for Tortillas
Chef Thomas Stacy is a Texas native who cooked at Uchi in Houston and Pineapple & Pearls in DC. He opened Tommy’s Tacos in mid-September 2026 inside the park’s pavilion. According to Washingtonian’s Jessica Sidman, he had wanted a Tex-Mex spot for a decade. Better yet, the NoMa BID lease sends a portion of every sale to park upkeep. Every taco helps.
Breakfast Tacos and Smoked Pork Belly Anchor the Menu
Everything is served all day. Breakfast tacos cost $4.75 and include bacon, egg, and queso, chorizo, egg, and potato, and migas. Lunch and dinner tacos range from $5.50 to $6.75. The smoked pork belly with refritos, cotija, and pickled onion costs $6.75, while the shrimp taco with pineapple slaw costs $6.00. Sides matter too. Add esquites corn at $6 or chips and queso at $7.50.
Banana Horchata and a Beer Trail Detour Make It a Fall Favorite
Then comes the horchata. The banana version changed my mind about pumpkin spice lattes! Adults can order an $11 frozen margarita or the $12 frozen YooHoo YeeHaw. As a former Gale apartments resident, I know this corner of Eckington has long been a mini food desert, so quality tacos feel like a relief. Moreover, the stop fits neatly beside the 2026 Metropolitan Beer Trail I wrote about earlier, an easy walk along the Metropolitan Branch Trail.
Tommy’s Tacos is at 227 Harry Thomas Way NE, Washington, DC, inside Alethia Tanner Park. Two tacos and a drink average roughly $17 to $25 per person. There is no indoor seating, but a 50-seat patio is available. Hours are not publicly listed, so check Tommy’s Tacos on Instagram before you go.
