A sustainable hotel in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol just got a lot more interesting.

A Renovation Built on Accountability

Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill has officially earned LEED Silver® certification through Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). This globally recognized benchmark scores buildings on water efficiency, energy performance, materials, and indoor environmental quality. The designation came after a nine-month renovation completed in 2025. Digney York Associates, a DC-based firm with 40 years of hospitality expertise, led the effort. Their team transformed all 840 guest rooms, suites, and corridors to LEED Silver® standards. Throughout, the project prioritized sustainable building systems and responsible material selection at every turn.

840 Rooms, One Cohesive Vision

Every guest room now features warm wood tones, black metal accents, and expanded bathrooms. Moreover, upgraded technology and plush furnishings complete each space. The design draws from the U.S. Capitol, Capitol Hill’s historic row homes, and the neighborhood’s prominent figures. Standard King rooms now include a sleep sofa, and new Queen-Queen configurations have also been introduced. Suites range from 440 to 930 square feet, with connecting options for larger groups. Additionally, the renovation coincides with the hotel’s 50th anniversary and America 250 — weekend rates start at $250 using offer code WE250, valid throughout 2026!

Article One and the Regency Club Set a New Bar

Article One – American Grill & Lounge now leads with a sharpened Mid-Atlantic focus. Consequently, Maryland blue crab, Chesapeake Bay oysters, and regionally sourced proteins anchor the menu. Happy hour runs weekdays from 2–5 PM, and Wine Wednesday offers 15% off all bottled wine until midnight. Meanwhile, the newly unveiled Regency Club on the Lobby Level seats up to 52 guests. It serves breakfast buffet access, evening hors d’oeuvres, and cocktails exclusively to World of Hyatt Globalists and Club room guests. Furthermore, the design channels Capitol Hill craftsmanship — buckle leather accents, iron-worker details, and richly textured wall coverings throughout. General Manager Randy Thompson said it plainly: the team stays focused on reducing environmental footprint while delivering a high-quality stay in the heart of the nation’s capital!
