Carlos Delgado, the chef behind Michelin-starred Causa, is putting a Tulum-inspired waterfront restaurant called ‘Brisa‘ on the map in DC’s Buzzard Point.

Brisa Turns the Coast of Latin America Into One Menu

Anna Spiegel of Axios broke the news in April that Brisa, a coastal Latin restaurant, is coming to Buzzard Point with Delgado leading the food program. Eaternity Hospitality, the group behind La Vie and Nara-Ya at The Wharf, is developing the project.

Delgado already runs Causa in Shaw and the handroll counter Maru San on Capitol Hill, so this is a bold new direction! Jessica Sidman of Washingtonian reports that the menu will pair Venezuelan and Colombian arepas, Peruvian, Mexican and Ecuadoran ceviches, Salvadoran seafood pupusas and Puerto Rican bacalaitos. A rotisserie will turn out Peruvian-style jerk chicken.

Delgado says pan-Latin cooking is something “I feel like DC hasn’t had.” Bolivia-born bar director Paola Salinas will shape the cocktails, and Peruvian-born chef Favio Gonzales will run the kitchen day to day.

The Room Is Built for Long Waterfront Evenings and Game Days

Brisa means “breeze” in Spanish, a nod to the air coming off the water. According to The Infatuation, the restaurant will offer more than 100 outdoor seats and connect to a fast-casual counter selling salchipapas and other snacks for the walk to Audi Field.

Axios adds that the street food side will have about 15 bar seats, and Washingtonian notes a takeout menu with tacos, quesadillas and arepas, though no ceviche because it does not travel well. Expect an upscale-casual setting. It suits soccer fans planning a pre-match bite, groups that want patio space and anyone who wants Delgado’s cooking in a breezier room than Causa.

Buzzard Point Now Offers Soccer, Riverfront Trails and Real Momentum

Axios describes Brisa as a possible anchor for the neighborhood’s next phase, and the area is filling in fast. Audi Field, which opened in July 2018 and seats about 20,000, hosts DC United and the Washington Spirit, and The Point restaurant already serves the waterfront crowd.

A Placemakr neighborhood guide points to the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail, kayak and paddleboard rentals at James Creek Marina and river views at Buzzard Point Park. Placemakr Buzzard Point, an apartment-style hotel at 101 V Street SW, sits one block from the stadium, according to the company.

Just up the road, Croix, a Caribbean rooftop lounge atop the Cambria Hotel near Navy Yard, opened in August with botanical cocktails and rotating DJs.

Brisa is located at 2121 First Street SW, Washington, DC 20024, near Audi Field at 100 Potomac Avenue SW. Pricing, hours and reservation details have not been publicly listed, so check Brisa’s Instagram before you go. The opening was first promised for summer 2026, and a final date was not confirmed at the time of writing.
