Banana leaves stretch across a long table—eat with your hands, Filipino style.

A Shared Table Rooted in Filipino Tradition

The DC Boodle Fight lands at Hook Hall on Sunday, May 31, 2026, as part of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. A boodle fight is a treasured Filipino custom served at milestones and celebrations. Roasted pig, jasmine rice, fish, crab, pork belly, and fresh fruit are arranged across banana leaves down a long communal table. You can eat with your hands!

The tradition traces back to the Philippine military, where soldiers ate side by side without rank or hierarchy. Today, families and friends gather this way to mark life’s moments, big or small. Tickets are available now through DC Boodle Fight and on OpenTable.
