This summer, visit Oaxaca at dLeña. Chef Richard Sandoval’s Destination Oaxaca Menu is a celebration of Oaxacan traditions and food art. Going on now through July 28, enjoy the spirit of Mexico through corn, a cornerstone of Oaxacan cuisine.
Oaxaca, the birthplace of corn, is the inspiration for this food adventure. Chef Sandoval honors the Oaxacan tradition of transforming simple ingredients into treasures, showcasing corn in various forms, from tortillas to nixtamalization.

Chef Sandoval’s exploration of Oaxaca’s markets and cuisine inspired this new collection. His research and creativity resulted in a menu that balances tradition and innovation, honoring the artisans and farmers preserving these recipes.
dLeña’s “Destination Oaxaca” Menu features dishes like Pacific Prawns and Guava Mole with guava yellow pipian, citrus purslane, dried chili, chapulines, and corn tortillas. Dessert includes Crème Brûlée de Calabaza with agave, gooseberry, and flambéed Nixta Licor de Elote Liqueur served with a housemade churro. Beverages include the Alebrije Paloma with Avion blanco tequila, aperol, grapefruit, lime, agave, and tortilla tatemada, and the zero-proof Tejate d’Guava with guava, coconut milk, corn, vanilla, and cinnamon.
dLeña and dLeña ROJA (100+Tequilas/Mezcals Lounge) are located at 476 K Street NW, Suite D, Washington, DC 20001. Bottomless brunch is available from 10 am to 3 pm on weekends.
