uncle nearest green suite fairmont hotel washington dc georgetown westend 2025

In Washington DC where history and modern luxury meet, the Fairmont Washington, DC, Georgetown now offers a unique room dedicated to a remarkable heritage. The brand new Nearest Green Suite pays tribute to Nathan “Nearest” Green, the first African American master distiller whose expertise shaped the American whiskey industry and influenced generations.

Fairmont and Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey have joined forces to create a space that honors resilience and innovation. Fairmont General Manager Mark Huntley, Uncle Nearest Founder and CEO Fawn Weaver, and Master Blender Victoria Eady Butler, a direct descendant of Nearest Green, worked together to craft an experience that is both luxurious and steeped in history.

The 1,500-square-foot suite rests on the Gold Floor and offers views of a tranquil courtyard garden. Designed by New York-based Pierre Josselin of Pierre & Co., the interior features neutral tones and vibrant greens that enhance both elegance and heritage. The spacious living and dining area, highlighted by alabaster chandeliers and a lacquered ebony game table, sets the stage for timeless leisure. A generous lounge invites guests to unwind with a glass of Nearest Green Tennessee Whiskey.

The inviting bedroom offers a DUX bed dressed in toxin-free sateen sheets from the DUXIANA Essentials collection. A spa-like bathroom, adorned with white and grey marbles and soft gold fixtures, creates a serene retreat. Throughout the suite, photographs and a short film narrated by Jeffrey Wright share the compelling story of Nearest Green.

Each stay includes a bottle of Nearest Green Tennessee Whiskey, signed by Victoria Eady Butler, and a copy of “Love & Whiskey” by Fawn Weaver. Fairmont Washington, DC, Georgetown also contributes to a Nearest Green Legacy Scholarship with every booking, providing full college scholarships to direct descendants of Nearest Green.

The alliance between Fairmont and Uncle Nearest reflects a shared passion for heritage and excellence. DC Mayor recently recognized the suite’s cultural impact by proclaiming a day in honor of Uncle Nearest, a gesture presented by Sybongile Cook from the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development.
