Three years of Lebanese-Mexican fusion deserves a party, and Vera is throwing one!
A Rare Tribute to Arab Culture in Mexico
Vera Cocina & بار is one of the few restaurants in the world built around the story of the Lebanese who settled in Veracruz, Mexico in the late 1800s. That migration gave the world tacos al pastor, a Mexican adaptation of Lebanese spit-roasted shawarma, and Vera carries that shared heritage onto every plate. The bilingual name says it all, with بار meaning “bar” in Arabic and Cocina meaning “kitchen” in Spanish, a nod to Veracruz itself.
Sunday, May 3: An Anniversary Party Open to All
The evening begins downstairs in the Atrio with complimentary bites and drinks during a welcome hour, before guests head upstairs for the late-night energy Vera is known for. Resident DJs will spin a signature blend of Afro house, tech, Arabic, and Latin vibes, the same format that fuels Sala Sonidos every Friday and Saturday at 11:30pm. The Sunday evening anniversary event is free and open to the public, and RSVPs can be made here.
Three Years of Bold Flavors in Ivy City
Since opening, Vera has grown into a destination for upscale dining, private events, and the Brunch Hafla, a 21+ Arabic and Latin party brunch on Saturdays and Sundays where dancing is practically mandatory. The menu spans wagyu kefta mini tortas, shawarma tostadas, d’jaj al pastor, mole kefta, and a grass-fed tomahawk meant for sharing. Pair that with curated cocktails and a design-forward space, and you understand why Ivy City keeps coming back!
