The Beehiiv Shinola WHCA Party turned a 14th Street showroom into the press salon of the weekend!
Beehiiv Shinola WHCA Party 2026 Lights Up 14th Street
On Friday, April 24, beehiiv and Shinola co-hosted a cocktail reception at Shinola Logan Circle, launching White House Correspondents’ Weekend in style. Beehiiv is the newsletter platform powering thousands of independent writers and publishers, founded by former Morning Brew operators who wanted creators to own their audiences outright. Shinola is the Detroit-based maker of watches, leather goods, and bicycles, built on the conviction that American manufacturing still matters. The brand also operates the Shinola Hotel in downtown Detroit, a 129-room property extending the company’s craft ethos into hospitality. For more DC press week coverage, visit our events section.
Made in USA at Its Finest
Bedrock Manufacturing Group, Shinola’s parent company, also owns Filson, the legendary Seattle outfitter producing rugged outerwear and bags since 1897. Made in USA was the through-line of the night. Justice Tea passed their refreshingly crisp brews throughout the showroom, adding a third American-made brand to the lineup. Every sip, every stitch, every steel case told the same story. The room felt like a working argument for domestic craft!
Press Royalty Meets American Craft at the Beehiiv Shinola WHCA Party
Tyler Denk, beehiiv co-founder and CEO, hosted alongside Bedrock Manufacturing Group CEO Steve Katzman and Bedrock Chairman Mark S. Light. Jared Nozick, Chief Marketing Officer at VERSUS, added a sharp marketing-world voice to the mix. CNN turned out in force. Dana Bash, Brian Stelter, and Catherine Herridge worked the room. The Isla sisters, Nikki and Lonie Murdock, brought their warmth, while former Washington Post food critic Tom Sietsema added a dining-world dimension to the crowd. Conversations flowed easily between watchmakers and reporters, founders and editors. Cocktails kept pace, and the 5:00 to 7:00 PM window stretched comfortably past its close.
