A New Land of Oz in DC

The Darcy is bringing the Land of Oz to life, transforming its lobby into a magical destination. The hotel has partnered with the Northern Virginia LEGO User Group (Novalug) to construct an epic LEGO installation of the Emerald City. This is a must-see for anyone looking for unique things to do in DC, featuring a sprawling map of Oz, the Emerald City Palace, and even a replica of Shiz University built from more than 13,000 LEGO pieces.

Amazing Details in Every Brick

This is a true work of art. The Novalug team incorporated advanced LEGO techniques, like the Lowell Sphere and “Studs Not on Top” connections, to create the structures. You can marvel at the six-foot-wide tulip fields and find small details like balconies fashioned from car parts! It’s a stunning installation that turns a movie release into a destination travel moment right here in the nation’s capital.

Try the Wicked Witches Afternoon Tea

The experience continues at the hotel’s restaurant, Gerrard St. Kitchen. They are hosting a “Wicked Witches Afternoon Tea,” which is already shaping up to be one of the best afternoon teas in DC this season. The menu includes an assortment of themed savory tea sandwiches, such as “Gilda’s Goodness,” “Emerald City Greens,” and “Bewitching Smoke,” alongside sweet pastries and hot teas. This is one of the most unique popups in DC right now!

How to Book Your Experience

The LEGO displays are up now and will be viewable through National LEGO Day on January 28, 2026, making it a perfectly evergreen DC attraction. The afternoon tea and cocktails officially launch this weekend. The price for the tea is $56 per person, and reservations are required.
