The Ven at Embassy Row is showcasing Steve Wanna’s Something Someone Told Me. The installation gives art-minded travelers another reason to consider this Dupont Circle hotel’s rotating local-art program.

Paper And Ink Take An Unpredictable Path

The installation as an experimental series made with paper, ink and water. On his Ink on Paper series page, Wanna explains how a deliberate ink gesture changes as water moves through the sheet. The process leaves room for results he cannot fully control. That is a helpful way to approach the work, paying attention to edges, shapes and the relationship between the original mark and its final form.

Steve Wanna’s official website places the paper works within a practice spanning sound, sculpture, photography and installation. It documents projects at MoCA Arlington and the Kreeger Museum as well as a Touchstone Gallery exhibition. His interest in unpredictable processes connects these different formats.
