ADDF Great Ladies Luncheon & Fashion Show dc ritz carlton 2025

Fashion, Philanthropy, and Fierce Commitment to Alzheimer’s Research

As a 20-year editorial veteran covering Washington’s most inspiring and impactful gatherings, I was honored to attend the 15th Annual Great Ladies Luncheon & Fashion Show at the Ritz Carlton West End on May 8, 2025. Hosted by the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF), this premier philanthropic event brought together a powerhouse room of leaders, philanthropists, and changemakers—raising nearly $800,000 in support of groundbreaking Alzheimer’s research.

Founded by Elise and Marc Lefkowitz to honor Elise’s late mother, civic icon Estelle Gelman, the luncheon has become a legacy celebration of women’s leadership and generosity. This year’s event was led by Chair Charlie Lefkowitz Crowley and Vice-Chair Kristen Rae Cecchi, who welcomed a packed ballroom for a day of science, fashion, and heartfelt giving.

The afternoon began with the Symposium to Conquer Alzheimer’s, moderated by Andrea Mitchell, who brought her signature grace and journalistic gravitas to the occasion. This was followed by a moving tribute to Dr. Howard Fillit, Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer of the ADDF, whose visionary approach to aging biology and precision drug therapies reshapes the field. Pharmaceutical innovator Eisai Inc. was also honored for its global leadership in advancing treatments like Aricept and Lecanemab.

In a fitting fusion of style and purpose, Saks presented a stunning runway show featuring the couture of TOCCIN, helmed by co-founders Alex and Michael Toccin. Her presence underscored the national importance of Alzheimer’s advocacy and the power of community to drive real change.

From exquisite fashion to extraordinary fundraising, this luncheon remains one of Washington, DC’s most anticipated philanthropic gatherings—a true celebration of impact, elegance, and enduring hope.
