Looking for the best wine pairing dinner in Washington DC this summer? Supra, DC’s only Georgian restaurant located in the heart of Shaw, is launching a limited-time Supra Summer Tasting Menu in partnership with Georgian Wine House. Priced at just $55 for dinner and an optional $40 for curated Georgian wine pairings, this immersive experience will be offered Sunday through Thursday during dinner service for the entire month of June 2025.
A Rare Culinary and Wine Journey Through Georgia — Without Leaving DC
Jonathan and Laura Nelms, founders of Supra, invite guests to indulge in a multi-course meal rooted in the Republic of Georgia’s 8,000-year-old food and wine culture. Diners can expect vibrant flavors from walnut-laced eggplant, traditional khachapuri cheesy breads, and savory khinkali dumplings—all served in a celebratory feast, or “supra,” style.
The tasting menu, crafted by Executive Chef Richard Wagner after studying Georgian cuisine firsthand in Tbilisi and Terjola, is perfectly paired with six extraordinary Georgian wines. Each glass tells a story—from ancient clay qvevri-aged amber wines to rare grape varietals revived by pioneering female winemakers.
Highlights of the Supra Summer Tasting Menu:
- Traditional Starters: Pickled jonjoli, sulguni cheese, and a bread basket served with Rosha Rkatsiteli or Baia’s Krakhuna white.
- Main Course Options:
- Signature khachapuri with bubbling cheese and egg
- Khinkali soup dumplings with pork, beef, or mushrooms
- Grilled mtsvadi skewers or lamb lula kabab
- Dessert Choices: Pelamushi, honey cake, cheesecake, and more with a sparkling Kisi pét-nat finale.
All wine pairings are meticulously selected, featuring producers like Baia Abuladze, Dakishvili Family Winery, and Pataridze Marani.
