Snallygaster returns to Pennsylvania Avenue on Saturday, October 10, bringing 450 craft beers from 175 producers to downtown DC for its 14th year.
Neighborhood Restaurant Group Brings Its Beer Expertise Downtown
The festival takes over four blocks of Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 3rd and 7th streets starting at noon, pairing its beer lineup with local food trucks and two stages of live music.
It is presented by Neighborhood Restaurant Group, the team behind Bluejacket, ChurchKey and The Sovereign, and curated by the group’s beverage director, Greg Engert. Organizers describe it as the East Coast’s biggest one day beer festival, drawing collectors chasing rare pours alongside casual drinkers looking for an afternoon outdoors.
A Reputation Built On Beers You Cannot Find Elsewhere
What began in 2011 as a single afternoon gathering has grown into one of the region’s most closely watched beer events, built on a reputation for pours that rarely show up at other festivals.
Rare imports, small batch releases and barrel aged beers make up much of the lineup each year, alongside traditional European lagers and artisan ciders.
Family Friendly, But Plan To Skip The Car
The event is family friendly, no on-site parking, so arrive by Metro or rideshare. With the Capitol building as a backdrop, the Pennsylvania Avenue location gives the festival a footprint large enough for shaded areas, ample seating and shorter lines than many DC outdoor events manage to pull off.
Snallygaster takes place on Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 3rd and 7th streets in downtown DC, running from noon to 6 p.m. on October 10. Tickets range from $75 to $150 and are available through Snallygaster’s official site, where organizers also post the current brewery lineup as it is finalized.
