For DC travelers who like choosing a hotel around dinner, The Wildset Hotel in St. Michaels puts a small historic property and the restaurant Ruse at the center of an Eastern Shore stay. Its inaugural Field & Tide festival on November 6 and 7, 2026, adds a dated reason to visit, while the hotel and restaurant provide a starting point for trips beyond that weekend.

Choose the Room Features That Matter to Your Stay

The hotel lists 34 rooms across three historic homes, with layouts that vary. Its room descriptions distinguish fireplaces, balconies, terraces and soaking tubs available in selected accommodations. Request the room category that actually includes the feature you want. A fireplace or outdoor space can shape the pace of a quiet weekend, but neither should be assumed for every booking.

Make Ruse the Dinner Anchor

Ruse is led by executive chef Michael Correll, who has a great relationship with local farmers, watermen and other suppliers. Ruse accepts reservations through Resy and lists dinner hours from 4pm to 9pm Sunday through Thursday and until 10pm Friday and Saturday. For a visit built around dinner, secure the table alongside the room rather than leaving the meal to chance.

Field and Tide Connects the Hotel With Chesapeake Producers

The hotel’s Field & Tide festival listing schedules a four-course, family-style dinner with Correll, Chris Morgan and Gerald Addison on Friday, November 6, from 6.30pm to 9pm, with doors at 6pm. Saturday’s fair runs from 11am to 3pm on November 7, pairing oysters and chef-prepared bites with Bark BBQ and live music. Saturday admission includes food tastings and entertainment, with beverages sold separately. 10 percent of ticket sales, excluding tax and gratuity, will benefit the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

Leave Time for the Rest of St. Michaels

The festival takes place at the Milk Truck Garage, a separate event space, so keep the ticket address distinct from hotel check-in. Outside those scheduled hours, build breathing room into the trip instead of stacking every stop around a reservation.
