Two established DC hotels are updating what guests can expect. The Westin Washington DC City Center targets November 2026 for a property-wide renovation, while The Watergate Hotel is promoting The Vault alongside reported plans to refresh its guestrooms.
Westin’s Owner Sets a November Completion Target
Columbia Sussex’s renovation announcement confirms work across all 410 guestrooms and corridors, with new furnishings, flooring, lighting and finishes. A second phase covers the lobby, restaurant and bar, plus improvements to the fitness center, elevators and exterior. The owner says hotel operations will continue during the phased work and expects completion by November 2026. That is a target, so guests booking around that period should ask which areas will be finished during their stay.
Watergate Adds an Event Space to Its Plans
Destination DC’s hotel update reports planned renovations to all 336 Watergate guestrooms, including seating alcoves, energy-conservation technology and custom fabrics and finishes. It also describes The Vault as a 6,000-square-foot event space with floor-to-ceiling windows. The hotel itself now lists The Vault among its meeting venues. Its public pages do not establish an exact completion date for the full guestroom renovation, so that timetable remains a detail to confirm directly.
