The university’s main guest lodging is getting a massive refresh.

Big news for Hoya families and Georgetown University visitors! The Georgetown University Hotel, located in the iconic Leavey Center, is preparing for a complete transformation. After serving many roles over its nearly 40-year history—from housing students during the pandemic to its current use as temporary housing—the hotel is returning to its original mission: hosting guests right on the Hilltop campus. This renovation signals a major commitment to upgrading the visitor experience in one of DC’s most historic neighborhoods.

A New Vision for the Hilltop

Georgetown is teaming up with Crestline Hotels and Resorts to manage the facility, ensuring a top-tier guest experience. The project aims to blend innovative design with traditional, iconic Georgetown elements, reflecting the university’s rich history. Visitors can expect 146 modern guest rooms, an open-concept lobby with stunning floor-to-ceiling windows, and 13,000 square feet of sophisticated meeting and event space perfect for conferences and social gatherings.

Upgraded Amenities and Gathering Spaces

The renovation also includes a completely transformed restaurant and bar. This new space is designed to be a central gathering spot for guests, whether for a morning coffee or a full meal. This focus on guest gathering is a key part of the modern design. Construction is slated to begin in fall 2025, with the grand opening anticipated for summer 2026.

Keeping Pace with Top Campus Hospitality

This move places Georgetown squarely in line with other major universities elevating their hospitality game, like The Hotel at the University of Maryland or the Boar’s Head Resort, which is owned by the University of Virginia Foundation. It’s a welcome update for the campus! Soon, Hoya families, university visitors, and even patients at the nearby MedStar Georgetown University Hospital will have a modern, mission-driven hotel to call home when visiting the historic campus.
