A great waterfront restaurant gets better with age, and Fish Shop DC is proving it.

DC’s Best Seafood Destination Is Celebrating in Style

Fish Shop DC, the Scottish-rooted seafood restaurant anchored at The Wharf, is marking its first anniversary with a spring lineup that earns every reservation. Born in Ballater in the Scottish Highlands and landed on Water Street SW, Fish Shop has spent a year earning its place among DC’s finest — landing in the Michelin Guide Washington DC 2025, winning Eater DC’s Best Design, and earning a spot on Washingtonian’s 100 Best Restaurants. Head Chef Ria Montes was named a StarChefs Rising Star Chef along the way. That’s a lot of ground covered in twelve months!

Patio Season Opens Earth Day — with $1 Oysters

On April 22, Fish Shop officially opens its waterfront patio for the season alongside a Sip & Shuck event featuring $1 oysters freshly shucked by Baywater Seafood, happy hour specials from 3–6 p.m., and the full spring menu debut — think soft-shell crab bao buns, tuna tartare with salsa macha, and whole grilled fish with jerk spice and pear relish. Daytime lunch service also returns, with a two-course set for $24 or three courses for $28.

A Twin Anniversary Menu Worth Every Penny

From April 29 through May 6, Fish Shop presents a four-course birthday menu at $95 per person — a transatlantic tribute bridging DC and Ballater. Expect signature snacks, Smoke in Chimneys trout ceviche with rhubarb and Asian pears, Maryland lobster tagliatelle with chili and garlic, grilled whole fish with dashi beurre blanc and trout roe, and candied peanut tiramisu to close.

Sommelier Showdown: Eight Wines, Four Courses, One Winner

On May 13, Fish Shop hosts its Sommelier Showdown — a four-course wine battle pitting Elli Benchimol (Apéro) against Sebastian Zutant (Red Hen, Primrose). Guests vote for the winner after tasting two pairings per course. Tickets are $118 per person. June 9 brings Gabriel Corbett (Jônt) vs. Ben Pesce (Minibar) — mark your calendar now.

The Washington Lobbyist keeps DC diners, insiders, and tastemakers ahead of the table. Book your seat before it’s gone.
