The EAT250 DC food festival 2026 is about to take over the nation’s capital!
A Citywide Feast for the Nation’s Milestone Year
The EAT250 DC food festival 2026 takes place June 14–28, spotlighting how America eats.
Developed with partners including the Executive Office of Mayor Muriel Bowser, RAMW, and TAA|PR, the festival features 100+ regional restaurants with special menus and experiences.
Chefs will collaborate, embassies will open their kitchens, and museums and libraries will host talks on food and identity. Union Market District serves as the main hub, hosting citywide events.
Chefs, Embassies, and Neighborhoods Unite
The festival lineup centers on collaboration. Leading chefs, restaurateurs, and cultural voices will host dinners and conversations showing how migration and tradition shape American cooking.
The range includes Michelin-starred venues and family-run spots, all celebrating DC’s diverse food scene.
“Washington, DC has always been a city where cultures, traditions, and people from across the country and around the world come together,” Mayor Bowser said. That spirit will be present throughout EAT250 DC.
What Is American Food? That central question weaves through the festival, inviting exploration and conversation.
EAT250 asks: What is American food? The answer is vast—Chinese soul food from the South, Ethiopian pizza, Japanese pasta, and more. Every tradition is part of the American story. Shawn Townsend of RAMW called the region dynamic and said it’s the best place to explore America’s food identity. Attendees can engage with this question over fifteen days.
Where to Eat, Book, and Celebrate
Union Market District anchors programming with chef collaborations, talks, and special menus citywide for two weeks. More participants will be announced closer to the festival.
