Atlas Brew Works just opened its massive new Bridge District brewery, transforming the local scene.

I was excited to check out Atlas Brew Works Bridge District Brewery & Tap Room—it’s genuinely impressive. This is a major development for Ward 8, bringing the first beer production east of the river. Located in the new Stratos apartments, part of the Bridge District, it’s just a 5-minute walk from the Anacostia Metro (Green Line) and an easy bike ride from Navy Yard or Nats Park.

A Brewery Big Enough for DC

When I say this brewery is enormous, I mean it. The new flagship location is a 24,260-square-foot facility that quadruples their production capacity with a massive 30bbl brewhouse. The tap room itself is huge, with a sun-soaked patio perfect for DC afternoons. I’m especially proud of the head brewer, Daniel Vilarrubi, who has worked tirelessly to get this amazing space operational. It’s fantastic to see this level of craft beer production thriving in Southeast DC!

Award-Winning Pizza and Sustainable Beer

They also have fantastic food. The brewery features Andy’s Pizza, so you can get award-winning pizza, wings, and salads alongside your pint. This setup is similar to their Navy Yard spot, but on a much grander scale. The bar has a full lineup of their balanced ales and lagers, and the whole spot is perfect for groups or just grabbing an after-work beer. They even have a semi-private space you can book for parties.

DC’s Solar-Powered Brewery Mission

What makes this location truly special is its commitment to sustainable stewardship. Atlas Brew Works has always been a solar-powered brewery, and this location takes it further. The facility is the anchor tenant at the Bridge District, which is pursuing a Zero Carbon Certification. They use a high-efficiency, gas-free brewhouse that captures and reuses excess heat, utilizes water reclamation processes, and donates spent grain to local farmers. It’s a brewery you can feel good about supporting.
