Taquería Xochi is adding pumpkin horchata on Sep 22, 2026 and a boozy soft serve version on Sep 29, 2026 at its Arlington and Navy Yard locations.

The Horchata Takes Its Cue From Calabaza En Tacha

Xochi’s Horchata de Calabaza draws on calabaza en tacha, the traditional Mexican preparation of pumpkin cooked with piloncillo and warm spices. For this version, the team cooks pumpkin with piloncillo, Mexican cinnamon, vanilla, orange zest, nutmeg, and clove, then blends it into the house horchata. It gives the seasonal drink a specific point of view and a place alongside the restaurant’s Mexico City street food.

The Soft Serve Adds Tequila and Corn Liqueur

A week after the drink arrives, Xochi will introduce Horchata de Calabaza Boozy Soft Serve with reposado tequila, Nixta Licor de Elote, piloncillo caramel, and cinnamon. The staggered launch gives pumpkin fans a reason to plan around the item they most want to try.

The Specials Are Coming to Two Full-Service Locations

Both locations will offer these drinks, and they both have indoor and patio seating and a bar, making the horchata easy to work into a taco outing. Navy Yard is two blocks from its namesake Metro station, a useful option for readers coming from elsewhere in DC.

Choose Navy Yard or Arlington for the New Specials

Visit Navy Yard at 300 Tingey Street SE, Suite 170, Washington DC, or Arlington at 1450 South Eads Street. Arlington opens daily from 11 AM to 9 PM; Navy Yard keeps those hours Sunday through Thursday and closes at 10 PM Friday and Saturday. Both accept walk-ins without reservations.
