Prim’s Cafe has opened at 1847 7th Street NW in Shaw, bringing chai, matcha, and family tradition to Washington DC’s coffee scene!
Two Ashleys Built Prim’s Cafe On Family Tradition
Founder Ashley Blake, a former hotel sales manager, named the shop after her daughter Prim and partnered with Evergreene Group Founder Ashley Mason-Greene to bring the concept to life. The pair drew on the comfort and hospitality both women learned from their mothers and grandmothers, building a Southern inspired gathering spot in the heart of Shaw.
The Menu Runs From Signature Lattes to Charcuterie Boards
Prim’s Cafe pours drip coffee, cortados, and espresso alongside a full matcha and chai lineup, including a chai matcha latte and a strawberry matcha latte. The shop’s signature latte comes finished with house made lavender syrup, and nearly every drink can be served iced or dressed up with oat, almond, or coconut milk.
A rotating assortment of pastries from Black woman owned bakery Souk rounds out the counter, and the cafe has begun offering catering trays for private events, from lox bagel platters to charcuterie boards and fruit and granola parfaits.
Prim’s Cafe Also Brings Its Coffee Bar On the Road
Beyond the Shaw storefront, Prim’s Cafe operates a full service coffee and matcha bar available for pop ups and private events, booked directly through the shop. Drink prices at the cafe start about $3.50 (Buy one, get one here!) for tea to a little more for large specialty matcha, offering various dairy and alternative milks.
Prim’s Cafe is located at 1847 7th Street NW in the Shaw neighborhood of Washington, DC 20001, and is open Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 3 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 3 PM.
