Local restaurants and bars are creating the best mocktails in DC crafted with the same seriousness as their counterparts containing spirits.

To highlight the restaurants and bars in the city on the cutting edge of developing non-alcoholic cocktails and the importance of their appearance on area menus, Un-Plated and media partner Wildheart Media, are presenting Zero-Proof on Monday, February 24 from 7-9 PM at Coconut Club.
The evening will feature several of DC’s most exciting restaurants including Coconut Club, Columbia Room, Beuchert’s Saloon, Tiger Fork, Doi Moi, Compass Rose, Espita Mezcaleria, and more sampling 1-2 of their non-alcoholic creations (think the Gin(ger) and Juice featuring guava, lime, mint, ginger, honey and soda from Coconut Club and the PC Fizz with corrected aronia berry elixir, lemon juice, simple syrup, egg white and soda water from Beuchert’s Saloon). Vote on their favorite booze-free beverage and a People’s Choice Award will be given to one lucky restaurant at the end of the evening.
“It’s important to provide N/A beverage options for many reasons, one being inclusiveness. We want to be a place anyone can go to for fun, and that everyone feels they’re in a safe space. I love this movement and concentration on N/A bevs lately. It’s nice to see bars and restaurants putting in the effort.”– Adam Greenberg, Owner and Executive Chef, Coconut Club
During the night, host Sabrina Medora of Un-Plated will lead a 5-10 minute discussion regarding the prominence of the sobriety movement and the importance of restaurants bringing the same attention to their zero-proof selections that they do to their cocktail menus and beer & wine lists.
She will also discuss the mission of Ben’s Friends, an organization aimed at creating a safe space for hospitality professionals to pursue and maintain sobriety in the number one industry that struggles with substance abuse. 15% of ticket sales from the event will be donated to Ben’s Friends to aid in their important mission.
Tickets ($50) are available through eventbrite.com. 15% of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to support Ben’s Friends. Coconut Club. Address: 540 Penn Street Northeast. Washington, DC 20002.
