This November, Todd Thrasher, multi-year James Beard Award nominee, will open his highly anticipated Potomac Distilling Company at District Wharf.
[Hey! On Sunday, December 8, 2019, 2941 Restaurant will host a Decadence Dinner. Order a four-course ($100 or $175 w/ wine pairing), six-course ($150 or $250 w/ wine pairing) or eight-course tasting menu ($200 or $325 w/ wine pairing), which will be available exclusively, from 4-8 pm.]
With four styles of Thrasher’s Rum, he plans to transform the public opinion by proving that Rum is not just a sweet and sugary spirit meant to mix with punchy cocktails. Thrasher will begin distributing his Rum locally and regionally with a focus on the national market.
Taking inspiration from countless rum-sodden scuba diving adventures throughout the South Pacific and West Indies, Thrasher will offer a three-story urban, waterfront distillery producing four styles of Thrasher’s Rum and housing a Polynesian-style neighborhood tavern, Tiki TNT.
Thrasher developed the recipe through experimentation, using herbs grown in his own backyard garden: lemon verbena, lemon balm, mint, green cardamom, and lemongrass. He is now nurturing a rooftop garden at the distillery that grows the ingredients for this distinct blend.
