Washington, DC (June 11, 2011) – The Donovan House hosted the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) on the rooftop for a fun networking events for LGBT professionals and allies, where they enjoyed delicious ABSOLUT, who are a nationa sponsor.

Thank GLAAD It’s Friday is a national networking event series for young LGBT professionals and straight allies, featuring ABSOLUT Vodka. Set in popular venues, TGIF events include hosted ABSOLUT Vodka cocktails, one-year GLAAD memberships, special guest hosts and nightly prize drawings as well as the opportunity to network and meet with like-minded professionals.
Co-Chairs Jonathan Howard and Jessica Katz were gracious hosts. They are part of the GLAAD DC Leadership Council. Jonathan moved to the District of Columbia and joined the fight for marriage equality with his now husband Gregory Jones, who were the 20th same sex couple to apply for their marriage license in the District on March 3, 2010. Jessica became involved with GLAAD after a long history of support of full equality for LGBT people. As a straight woman, the 1993 March on Washington became a pivotal moment in her advocacy for LGBT rights.
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) amplifies the voice of the LGBT community by empowering real people to share their stories, holding the media accountable for the words and images they present, and helping grassroots organizations communicate effectively. By ensuring that the stories of LGBT people are heard through the media, GLAAD promotes understanding, increases acceptance, and advances equality.
