Taste of the South 2015

Washington, DC (March 23, 2015) – On Saturday March, 21st, the Taste of the South was hosted at the Washington Hilton. Hosting over 3,000 attendees, the event raised over $500,000 for charities in 13 southern states including a featured charity based in South Carolina called Camp Happy Days.

Camp Happy Days’ mission is to offer support and encouragement to children diagnosed with cancer and their families by providing cost free year-round programs, special events and access to crisis resources.

Founded in 1982 by a group of transplanted southerners living in Washington, DC longing for home and wanting to share the rich traditions they had come to love, the group decided to host a party where they could share with fellow DC residents their love for all things southern. Today, it is a committed and focused committee of 44 southerners who make it their annual duty to share a taste of the south with Washington, DC and give something back to states they will always call home.

The circus themed gala showcased southern cuisine and state-centric giveaways.
