Washington, DC (September 3, 2014) – Award-winning design and architecture studio, nemaworkshop, has been tapped by W Hotels to renovate W Washington D.C.’s POV lounge and terrace. The New York-based firm is infusing design elements inspired by the capital’s iconic architecture, historical importance, and nightlife scene into the refreshed space.
“We look forward to introducing a new point of view on the city,” said W General Manager Oliver Servat. “Since we first welcomed guests to the rooftop in 2009, POV has been the premier place in the city for both guests and locals to mix and mingle. In our new iteration, W has worked with nemaworkshop to take the concept of what a rooftop in Washington can be to a new level—one that will serve guests in ways unimaginable until now.”
The new POV rooftop design is based upon an abstract interpretation of iconic touch points in our nation’s history, such as the signing Declaration of Independence and the gift of cherry blossoms, all re-told via design elements found throughout the space. Architectural details including coffered ceilings, domed structures, tufted details, and stacked cornices are re-interpreted through a modern and irreverent lens. Check it out soon!
