The Yards, DC’s most exciting waterfront neighborhood is bringing back Ice Yards and the Polar Plunge DC 2020, the signature event of the winter season, for its sixth year.
[Hey! Have you seen my post on custom-made MTM clothing? Take a look, and if you place an order, they will add a free custom shirt. Just tell them The Washington Lobbyist sent you.]
Grab your friends and head to the Yards Park boardwalk for DC’s only adult-friendly winter extravaganza with an unparalleled afternoon experience filled with unlimited frozen fun.
Returning bigger and better than ever will be icy cocktails and local DC brews across multiple bar stations in addition to the event’s signature interactive ice activities.
Ice Yards is pleased to partner with the annual Polar Plunge DC 2020 Fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics DC.
The Polar Plunge supports over 1,800 DC-based athletes who receive year-round sports training and opportunities to compete in the Special Olympics DC Games.
On Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, an above-ground swimming pool will be erected on the boardwalk, and participants will “take the plunge” to the cheers of the Ice Yards crowd.
Brookfield Properties has been a philanthropic partner to Special Olympics DC for the past 17 years as a presenting sponsor, fundraiser, and as volunteers.
Through their participation in the three-day event to volunteer and give back to the community, the team developed a close relationship with Special Olympics DC and a passion for supporting and expanding the organization’s incredible efforts.
Special Olympics DC is the sole provider of sports, health and inclusion programs that benefit over 1,800 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in the District, provided at no cost to participants.
