Since Maki Shop first opened their doors in 2015 the 14th St. eatery has become a destination for health-focused Washingtonians and foodies alike.
Darren Lee Norris, the James Beard Award-nominated chef who served as a culinary consultant when Maki Shop first opened has lent his expertise to the brand once again as the Japanese kitchen expanded its menu this month.
Highlights include a Spicy Pork Belly Bao with Kimchi, Scallion & a Housemade Ginger/Tamari/Mirin Sauce, Kinpira Gobo (a salad made with Burdock, Carrot & Sweet Tamarind Soy Sauce,) and an Oahu Poke Tuna Bowl that features Tuna Loin, Fried Garlic, Cucumber, Carrot, Seasoned Wakame, Beni Shoga, Kaiware Sprouts, Sesame Seeds & Scallions.
At present, Washington DC chain Compass Coffee, NPR Sound Bites Café, Union Kitchen Groceries and Georgetown University are already selling Maki Shop hand rolls.
Maki Shop is located at 1522 14th St. NW in Washington DC.
