LIST: Restaurants Celebrating the 2019 National Cherry Blossom Festival

From March 20 through April 14, 2019, Washington welcomes the return of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which commemorates the 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to the city of Washington, DC.

The gift and annual celebration honor the lasting friendship between the United States and Japan and the continued close relationship between the two countries.  This year guests can revel in the cherry blossom’s natural beauty while also enjoying four weeks filled with creative cherry-inspired cocktails and featured dishes at Washington area restaurants.

Ambar will be pouring a special cocktail to commemorate the anniversary of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. In Arlington, Virginia, Ambar Clarendon – Priced at $13, the April in Belgrade is made from a combination of cherry-infused plum rakia, Serbian cherry liquor, bourbon, and Angostura bitters, garnished with brandied cherries. For reservations, please call (703) 875-9663.

In Reston, Virginia, Red’s Table – Offering two cherry blossom-inspired dished and a featured dessert to commemorate the 92nd anniversary of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. First up is the savory appetizer special, a Cherry Salad with arugula, goat cheese, candied pecan, and fennel, tossed in a cherry vinaigrette, priced at $17, followed by a featured entre, Seared Pork Chop with cherry mostarda, roasted fingerling and braised kale, priced at $26.  For a sweet ending, Red’s Table will also be serving Cherry Tart with vanilla ice cream, priced at $8.  For reservations or additional information, please call (571) 375-7755.

Dyllan’s Raw Bar Grill Georgetown – Enjoy a three-course, prix fixe menu priced at $35 per person (tax and gratuity not included), in addition to the featured seasonal menu.  This special menu consists of a course of Goat Cheese Wild Cherry & Walnut Tart, garnished with a baby kale salad and a pomegranate dressing, followed by Grilled Arctic Char with parsnip pure, green asparagus, spiced lapins and cherry sauce, and for dessert, a Vanilla Cheesecake with a cherry jubilee jam. Bibiana Osteria Enoteca will offer three cherry blossom-inspired dishes and a featured dessert during this year’s festival.  Highlights include the Scallop Carpaccio with cherry dressing and crispy kale, priced at $15; Cherry Risotto with uni butter and foie gras torchon, priced at $22; Sweetbread & Amarena Cherry Stuffed Quail with maraschino and white chocolate sauce, priced at $33, and for a sweet ending, Bibiana will also be serving Cherry Panna Cotta with cherry consomm, cherry merengue and cherry soil, priced at $10.
