Born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Alan Jones studied French History and Political Science and was not predestined to be a mixologist. His first experience was at the Four Seasons Hotel Boston where he started off as the houseman supervisor setting up and breaking down all function space. He moved throughout Food & Beverage working as banquet captain, room service waiter, shift supervisor, lounge foodrunner, backwaiter and finally bartender. From there, he developed a passion for service at the Bristol Lounge.
Jones made his first introduction to the Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square in 2008. He later went to the Dupont Hotel and brought a new sense of mixology to the Bar Dupont. He has also worked for Michael Mina’s Wit and Wisdom in Baltimore and BLT Steak on 1625 I Street Northwest.
Now back at the Sofitel, he is creating a drink program that is uniquely drenched in French sensibility with a clever synthesis of flavors from the French Quarter, French West Africa, and the Caribbean. Look for his new menu now at the Sofitel’s Le Bar in on 806 15th Street Northwest in Washington, DC.
