Washington, DC (June 29, 2015) – Launch Pad, a project hatched by Union Market, Mess Hall and Ris Lacoste to identify and launch a promising new culinary concept, introduced its finalists to advisors, judges, and members of the press for an intimate breakfast in West End’s RIS Thursday morning, June 25.
On Sunday, July 12, during a live Grand Finale at Union Market’s Dock 5, finalists will pitch their businesses to a panel of industry experts, including restaurant mavens Patrick O’Connell, Aaron Silverman, Drew Nieporent, David Hall, and Ris Lacoste. In the coming days, finalists will have access to a board of advisors, from Spike Mendelsohn to the Hilton Brothers, who are at the center of DC’s food economy. These advisors will offer consultations on leasing, business plan vetting, capital raise strategies, and restaurant 101—instrumental lessons to help contestants craft the perfect pitch. The winner of Launch Pad will take over a fully built, quick-service space for 6–12 months in the city’s largest entrepreneurial food hub, Union Market. In addition to real-world experience, the winner will also receive valuable prizes and invaluable networking opportunities.
