Chevy Chase, MD (November 9, 2011) – After hosting a successful event in Chicago, Bloomingdale’s and Microsoft teamed up again to host Geek 2 Chic: DC, a unique fashion show featuring technology leaders from the public and private sector.The Men’s Store at Bloomingdale’s Chevy Chase turned into a nerdy affair and showcased some of Microsoft’s newest technologies.Geek 2 Chic transformed successful, innovative tech-savvy men from the private and public sectors into fashion models last night to raise funds for the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), which works with educators in high-need schools to re-engage students in learning, introduce them to business concepts, and broaden their future possibilities. In addition to all the proceeds from ticket sales, 10% of the evening’s Bloomingdale’s purchases will be donated to NFTE.Geek 2 Chic 2011 featured 20 business leaders on the runway, each outfitted in labels that include Ralph Lauren, Theory, and Burberry, styled and provided by The Men’s Store.
The event was well attended by the District’s technology executives, politicos, socialites and tastemakers and served as an official event of DC Digital Capital Week, which is taking place from November 4 – 11.
The night also included an invitation-only after party co-presented by media and events company TechCocktail.com.
Notable runway guys represented companies from; GeniusRocket, Venga, Thrillist, Twicsy, and HelloWallet.
One model from the DC runway shows was a young NFTE technology track graduate.
The night was emceed by the glamorously geeky NBC Washington anchor Angie Goff.
