Washington, DC (September 16, 2011) – Now that fall has finally cracked its whip in the District, it is now time to lace up those running shoes for two great weekend runs hosted by our favorite hotels. On Saturday, the Four Seasons hosts their 31st Annual Sprint Four the Cure 5k and on Sunday, the Mandarin Oriental will host their inaugural 10k to build a playground in the Southeast area of Washington. Children may run the 100 yard dash for FREE but must register in advance.
WHY: All proceeds benefit cancer research at Washington Cancer Institute
10K walk/run fundraiser to help build a new children’s playground in Southwest D.C., planned by the Community Benefits Coordinating Council (CBCC).
WHEN: Sunday, September 18, 2011. (Registration begins at 8:00-8:45am):
11 a.m. BBQ at Hains Point begins
WHERE: Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C.
COST: $50 Donation/Entry Fee (includes FREE T-shirt, raffle ticket, and Mandarin Oriental Breakfast) For Participants
WHY: The funds raised by the FANtastic March will be used for construction of the playground, to be located at the corner of 3rd and I Streets, adjacent to the public library, offering a much-needed location for families to gather and a safe place for children to play.
