Boston, MA (September 26, 2012) – WIRED and Marriott Hotels & Resorts, recently announced a new partnership called WIRED + Marriott Culturazzi Series at their kick-off event titled Marriott Meetup: Five Startups to Watch at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf on September 19th. Startup executives and digital game changers are curating four events hosted exclusively at U.S. Marriott properties through December.
Marriott Hotels & Resorts has been re-imagining the guest experience, transforming its lobbies and public spaces to welcome today’s business travelers who blend work and play, desire style and substance, and demand high-tech features and high-touch experiences. The Boston Marriott Long Wharf hotel features a great room, lobby and public space elegantly designed that met these needs.
WIRED Insider’s Smarter Upstarter and reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian, together with Marriott Hotels & Resorts, honored startups driving change and select “Five Startups to Watch” from the Boston community. These companies were recognized for the innovation they bring to the area’s startup scene. As well, Kiva Systems was presented with the “Chief Disruptor” Award for its great success.
Their next event will be a Humor Me Comedy Showcase in Marina Del Rey, California October 24th on the Marina del Rey Marriott hotel rooftop. The Humor Me Comedy Showcase will feature emerging and established comedians presented by popular comedy video website Funny or Die.
The event series will culminate at the WIRED Store in New York City in December, where Marriott will present an exciting interactive display and VIP event. The events, held in the hotels’ public spaces, will inform, entertain and inspire hotel guests and the local communities by bringing together the hotel event experience with the digital social sphere via live tweeting, Facebook posts, Instagram photos, blogging and Web video.
