Black Broadway returns to 14th and U streets at Marvin with local indie soul artist, Danté Pope and friends performing “The After Five Experience” on Halloween night.
[Hey! Have you seen my post on custom-made MTM clothing? Take a look, and if you place an order, they will add a free custom shirt. Just tell them The Washington Lobbyist sent you.]
The After Five Experience transforms Marvin’s first floor to a traditional southern juke joint, an experience captured in classic films like The Color Purple, Harlem Nights, and Idlewildwhere black people would gather on Friday night in their Sunday best and unwind the week away with live music, dancing, and imbibing.
The After Five Experience actually begins at 8 pm but happy hour will be available from 5 pm-7 pm. Reservations can be made at resy.com and includes a $10 per person cover charge. Guests are encouraged to come dressed to the nines in their vintage and juke joint inspired attire.
A full dinner menu and southern cocktail specials will be available.
