A brand new building built from the ground up has now opened its doors as the AC Hotel by Marriott Washington DC Downtown. This new hotel will offer an elevated experience that many AC customers have come to expect.
Located in front of the Wawa on 19th St., around the corner from Pisco Nazca and just down the street from Boqueria and Rumble Fitness, the AC Hotel brings 219 sleek smart guestrooms on 14 floors, three meeting rooms totaling just over 2,200 square feet.
According to their website, the rooms are European style with the modern feel featuring elegant design and comfort including adjustable reading lamps, complimentary high-speed Internet with a refrigerator and a coffee maker in all the rooms.
“We can’t wait to show off this incredible property to the world. It’s rare to have the chance to build a new hotel from the ground up in this market, and we wanted to make sure the experience and design were a complement to the area,” said Corry Oakes, CEO of OTO Development. “We really wanted to pay homage to Washington, DC as well, and you will see that reflected in the design elements and artwork throughout.”
What is over interest is the hotel design and lobby artwork on full display. The OTO Development group contracted with MaterialDriven to provide a sophisticated and clean concept lobby incorporating a paper and optic fiber chandelier designed by Anke Neumann of Lichtpapier, playing off the theme of the Potomac River.
“It is very rewarding to open the doors on a brand-new hotel and provide an incredible experience to our guests,” said Nasur Almutairi, general manager. “We are thrilled to join the downtown neighborhood and become a great asset to the city.”
There is a rooftop terrace, on-site fitness center with a Peloton bike, and open-to-the-public grab-and-go breakfast area, and a very cool public lounge emphasizing Spanish wines, local microbrews, and signature cocktails. There are also small bites (tapas) offered.
