A Weekday Walk Around Ivy City – Starting on a Thursday at 3:00 pm
Have you visited Ivy City yet? You really should, and I suggest taking that opportunity to visit the historic Hecht Warehouse neighborhood on a Thursday starting at 3:00 pm. I posted a map for you to follow and hours and locations below.
Your first stop I recommend is New Columbia Distillers. They make great vermouths and gins. I suggested getting there reasonably early, as they are only open during the day (hours listed below). Start with a vermouth tasting!
Next, head to Atlas Brew Works, which opens at 4:00 pm. Great specials. Walk back up to Okie Street NE and make a right turn to Republic Restoratives where you can enjoy this small-batch, women-owned distillery and craft cocktail bar.
Now you must probably be getting hungry. La Puerta Verde is nice to get to for Happy Hour (5 pm – 6:30 pm). $3 tacos, $6 draft Dos Equis Amber, $5 Sol cans, and $12 fresh-made guacamole.
Later, head to DC City Winery and enjoy their massive event spaces, maybe enjoy another bite, and I’m sure there will be live music. Try to get to the rooftop to watch a beautiful sunset. Now that you are full and happy, now its time to have some fun. Head to Big Chief for some New Orleans hospitality.
I included One Eight Distillery because it is also a fun destination, but only on the weekends. Also included is Gravitas, if you want something more refined for dinner. Hope you enjoy!
