WHAT TO DO: Weekend of April Fourth Through the Sixth

Washington, DC (April 4, 2014) – Besides the wonderful amenities offered by Washington hotels, there are many events, including the latest production from the Arena Stage, as well as new IMAX 3D movies and cultural celebrations from the Smithsonian museums, and even a few restaurants are hosting some fun things to do. Camp David (Going on now through May 4, 2014)

Sixty-two miles north of Washington, DC, nestled in Catoctin Mountain Park, lies the clandestine retreat known as Camp David. For thirteen tumultuous days, President Jimmy Carter (Emmy winner Richard Thomas) and his wife Rosalynn (Tony nominee Hallie Foote) host Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin (Tony winner Ron Rifkin) and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat (Khaled Nabawy) in an attempt to create the impossible: Peace in the Middle East. How could such a massive thing be done in such a short amount of time? Artistic Director Molly Smith directs the world premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Lawrence Wright’s incredible new play based on incredibly true events.

For the first time in intertribal history, the Cherokee Nation and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians are partnering to host “Cherokee Days,” a public educational program that shares the true Cherokee story. The Cherokee Nation and the Eastern Band will share the Cherokee story that spans history from the Trail of Tears to the successes of the modern tribes. The Cherokee Days program includes a three-day festival featuring food, dance, music, demonstrations, films, and hands-on activities.
