Review: Nine Zero Hotel in Boston
Boston, MA (November 30, 2012) – Looking over Boston Common in the Ladder District, is the Nine Zero Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel. This is one of three Kimpton’s in Boston, joining the Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge and the Onyx Hotel in the Bulfinch Triangle.
When you enter the lobby, a wonderful aroma will welcome you, and you can’t ignore it. It is fresh and relaxing but also uses an awakening tart and floral scent familiar to cranberry. It’s a great scent, and you can’t have it, believe me, I checked. The scent is custom made from a local “Scentist,” from the western Massachusetts Berkshires region, there’s no commercial name as it was designed specifically for the hotel.
There are 190 guestrooms and five suites provide intimate quarters draped in masculine but refined textures and patterns. The beds are custom too and billowy down comforters are memorable, especially for those who value a good night’s sleep. The interior design blends traditional red brick and limestone with sleek nickel, chrome, stainless steel and glass.
Meeting space is also intimate, perhaps a bit too small, but great for a work retreat. 2400 feet of flexible event and meeting space will work great if you’re planning a small business function, or reception. The restaurant space is only open for breakfast, and can be planned for to a sit-down banquet for 60, as catering is available from their in-house cuisine department, providing room service 24 hours.
This hotel is in the bed of Boston Common, right across the street. Beacon Hill, Faneuil Hall and the Quincy Market are close by, and the subway system entrance is just down the block. The Orpheum Theatre, the Wang Center for the Performing Arts and the Boston Ballet are also just a short walk away.
Their gym is 24-hour and provides the very basics, so it may not be spacious enough for your morning yoga, especially if there are others in the gym. No spa to walk into, but they will come to you. They offer eco-friendly In-Room Spa Services to help melt away tension.
There is a lot to see and do in Boston. If you are not sure what do you just yet, every evening from 5 to 6 pm in the lobby, they offer complimentary wine by the glass, something all Kimpton hotel offer for all their guests. Don’t be afraid to ask the concierge for tips. Here are a few recommendations that he provided: Trolley Tours, the Museum of Fine Art, Institute of Contemporary Art, Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum, Museum of Science, and the New England Aquarium. Also, starting right outside the hotel is the Freedom Trail, where a small cemetery entombs Benjamin Franklin‘s parents and Paul Revere himself. Check out the shopping scene at Downtown Crossing. For dinner, the concierge recommended; Bricco, Del Frisco Steakhouse, Bistro du Midi and the Atlantic Fish Co.
This is a great hotel with a great vibe in the heart of Boston. Kimpton Nine Zero Hotel is a cozy, modern, and sophisticated fit to the city. Rates run about $142.00 to $169.00, but have additional offers on their website; Kimpton Nine Zero Hotel is located at 90 Tremont Street Boston.
