The Michelin-starred Siren at The Darcy in the Logan Circle neighborhood is a venture of Chef Robert Wiedmaier and Chef/partner, Brian McBride soon becoming the preeminent fish and seafood restaurant in Washington, DC, showcasing the freshest, highest-grade catches from around the world.
From Alaskan king crab to sweetly delicate sea urchin from Hokkaido, Japan, to the succulent fish and crustaceans swimming in the cool waters of the North Sea, no expense is spared at Siren to procure the world’s very best.
In the kitchen, Chef Wiedmaier’s mission is to blend his classical French background with Japanese flavors and presentations. The result is an often exhilarating marriage of East and West.
The raw bar displaying of the day’s catch, is the focal point of the dining room.
Design is a matter of deep importance to chef Wiedmaier, and at Siren great care has been taken to ensure a space that is as rich and detailed as the cuisine.
The lush, intimate dining room is a stylish evocation of the salty days of seafaring and the colorful, rough-and-tumble maritime life, from the brass-trimmed accents meant to suggest a captain’s quarters to the fresh splashes of oceanic blue that reinforce the nautical theme.
The artwork on the walls, meanwhile, draws both from folkloric depictions of mermaids and the tattoos of bygone sailing cultures.
