The American Pops Orchestra opened their third season Saturday, September 16 at 8:00 PM with Respect: The Music of Aretha Franklin, which celebrated the 75th Birthday of “The Queen of Soul.”
Luke Frazier conducted the 19-piece orchestra featuring Franklin’s greatest hits, including “A Natural Woman,” “Chain of Fools,” “Spanish Harlem,” and “Since You’ve Been Gone.”
The concert stars Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child), Ariana DeBose (Broadway’s Hamilton and A Bronx Tale), Moya Angela (“America’s Got Talent,” Broadway’s In Transit and Dreamgirls), Nova Payton (Helen Hayes Award winner, Carnegie Hall) and Bria Skonberg (Sony Records Jazz Recording Artist, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center).
