Washington, DC- On Wednesday, April 29th, the 33rd Annual March of Dimes Gourmet Gala hosted more than 40 Members of Congress united for a friendly competition at the National Building Museum where NBC’s “Weekend TODAY” News Anchor Sheinelle Jones served as Mistress of Ceremonies.
Senators and Representatives competed for coveted bragging rights in this competitive cook-off as “Celebrity Chefs.” Food judges were: Chef Ris Lacoste from Ris, Chef Matt Parrilli from the National Democratic Club, Chef Jamie Leeds of Hanks Oyster Bar, Passion Food Hospitality’s Chef Jeff Tunks, and Chef Spike Mendelsohn of Béarnaise.
Recipes such as Senator Mark Warner’s (VA) collis-stuffed eggs and Representative Billy Long’s (MO) cornbread with mustard bacon glaze will be judged by locally acclaimed professional chefs. Awards will be given in six categories: Best Presentation, Health & Happiness, American Regional Cuisine, Easiest Preparation, Best in Show and People’s Choice.
