Washington, DC (June 7 2012) – The Georgetown Inn celebrated its 50th anniversary yesterday and hosted a dignified reception for the select few. Previous owners, Georgetown residents and Georgetown & George Washington University executives shared fond memories at the Inn made a toast to the hotel’s half-century birthday. In 1962, the Georgetown Inn became the talk of the town even before construction began. In October of 1959, DC residents were excited when they heard that developer Sheldon Magazine, president of the American Mortgage Investment Company would build a new hotel at the corner of Wisconsin and N Street in Georgetown neighborhood.
Today’s owner Nayan Patel welcomed invited guests to the event which was catered by the hotel’s lobby restaurant, the Daily Grill. Mr. Patel has served as Chairman of the Board for Best Western International Inc. and an active member in the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, Washington Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Prince William (County) Chamber of Commerce. Patel has plans to renovate the hotel over the course of the next few years with the help of his Your DC Hotels team, including Director of Operations Chetan Patel, General Manager Kelly Curry, Director of Marketing Heidi Bitar and David McDermott.
