Four special events will take over the main bar at Dirty Habit this year, each celebrating the talent of a different local painter, while raising funds for the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB).
The bi-monthly Dirty Habit Art Series kicks off Saturday April 28, 2018 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm with a five-hour live painting event by Washington, DC area artist, Trevor Griffin.
Guests are invited to bid on the piece as it is being created, and 100% of the winning bid will be donated to the region’s largest hunger advocacy organization. The theme of Griffin’s piece, and all subsequent works in the 2018 series, will be tied to the CAFB mission of “Unlocking the Power of Food.”
Entrance is free and open to the public. Executive Chef Kyoo Eom will offer a range of shareable plates from his spring menu and Head Bartender Sarah Ruiz will offer specially-priced cocktails themed to align with the art subject matter. With the April event focusing on the effects of pollen, Ruiz will be working with Barr Hill Gin and pouring her take on a classic Bee’s Knees cocktail – a nod to the distillery’s on-property apiary and the CAFB learning garden in Brookland. Representatives from the CAFB will be on-site to answer questions about the food bank’s work and the organization’s service agencies throughout the region.
The remaining Dirty Habit Art Series events will take place on Saturday, June 23, Saturday, August 18, and Saturday, October 20. A different local artist will be featured in each instillation, and will be announced as the date nears.
