Washington, DC (July 15, 2014) – Celebrity Chef Art Smith is pleased to announce Douglas Alexander as the new Executive Chef of Art and Soul. Rising up from his role as Chef de Cuisine, Alexander will assume his new position August 1, 2014.
Alexander will replace Chef Wes Morton, who after spending three and a half years working with Chef Art Smith is returning to his roots in Lafayette, Louisiana to continue honing his southern style cooking skills through his own restaurant concept.
Prior to joining Art and Soul in 2011, Alexander spent years cooking at the British gastropub Againn and 701 restaurant in Penn Quarter. Before his move to Washington, DC, Alexander worked in a number of kitchens in Portland Oregon, including Southpark Seafood & Wine Bar as sous chef and Fivespice Seafood & Wine Bar, where he was Executive Chef.
A hot sauce connoisseur, Alexander is also the man behind “Angry Chef Hot Sauce,” a company he began earlier this year funded on Kickstarter that aims to produce one 20-gallon batch using at least 100 pounds of chiles each month.
