The Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington hosted the “Oscars of Washington, DC Restaurants” with over 1600 restaurant industry professionals to recognize and award excellence and achievement in the DC Metropolitan area restaurant industry.
In a “Casablanca” theme, attendees were spotted in fedoras and feathers as they enjoyed cocktails generously gifted from 20 wineries around the world, 9 beer sponsors, Absolut, Plymouth Gin, 3 G’s Tequila, Jim Beam Rye and Mount Gay Rum.
In a slightly different format, evening presentations were delivered in a separate room, followed by a sit down dinner, as a opposed to their former approach of combining the two.
My partial favorites were: Michel Richard Citronelle (Lantham Hotel) for Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year, POV and Bourbon Steak for the Hottest Restaurant Bar Scene, Fabrice Bendano – Adour for Pastry Chef of the Year, Art & Soul for Power Spot of the Year, Mark Politzer – Bourbon Steak for Manager of the Year, Adolfo Cajchon – Seasons and Joe Bolam – Urbana for Employee of the Year. We are proud of them all. Here is the list of winners. Click here.
Media mavens Lisa Shapiro, Makeda Saggau-Sackey and Kate Michael were spotted in 40’s glam with culinary elites. This was quite an evening and I encourage you all to continue the celebration by dining out at the many reputable and wonderful restaurants, order handcrafted cocktails and understand why DC is setting new standards for culinary expertise. Here’s looking at you, kid.
